REPAIR AND RESTORATION
We cover all aspects of repair and restoration, from small action repairs to full rebuilds of both upright and grand pianos.If you have a tired old piano that could be rebuilt, the first stage is to let us have a detailed inspection of the instrument and that will give us the information as to whether the piano is worth rebuilding. Unless it is of great sentimental value or the instrument is by a top class manufacturer such as Steinway/bechstein/bluthner etc. many pianos are really not worth fully rebuilding. The cost will usually far outweigh the value of the restored instrument. In these cases it would be better to purchase a new one.

We provide an appraisal service including written quotations and professional advice so that you can make the right decision regarding a potential rebuild.Many pianos can be brought back to good serviceable order without having to have major rebuild work. Only a site inspection can determine what measures should be taken.
Full rebuild of an upright piano will include replacement of pinblock, tuning pins,strings etc. and the action assembly dissembled and rebuilt with new parts including hammers and dampers. All lacquered parts such as the frame and soundboard will be stripped and re finished. The casework stripped of finish,stained and lacquered to a bright or satin finish. The cost will be around £2000.including casework. A detailed quote will be issued after initial inspection.
Grand piano rebuilds as above will be around £3000.including casework. There is a small additional cost if the piano is to be finished in high gloss laquar black.
Cost of partial rebuilds such as re stringing or action rebuild or just casework refinishing can be quoted on request.
Price of stripping and refinishing is as follows
In Satin wood colour £900. upright, £1400 for grand.
In polished wood colour £925 upright, 1400 for grand
In high gloss polyester black £1200 upright, 1500 grand.
